CSU Aparri InfoTech Team bags 2nd Place in 2023 University Search for Best Undergrad Thesis

For the 4th consecutive series of the University Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis, the team composed of 4 members from the College of Information and Computing Sciences won 2nd place in the Technological Category competing with 7 other participants or representatives. Headed by its team leader and the presenter, Mr. Franksel P. Tindoc Jr., the IT capstone project titled "Design and development of the ASSET: A web-based research archiving system, was designed to archive the different curated and/or reviewed social, experimental, and technological papers of the students of CSU Aparri in an effort to provide an accessible web system for research and educational activities. Developed using open-source web technologies, Mr. Tindoc explained the importance and benefits of the project as well as its competitive advantage over a subscription-based research database i.e. Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The project has been developed from June 2022 to January 2023 with Ms. Rogiefel Torres, Ms. Key Ann C. Corpuz, and Ms. Jonalyn T. Salem, under the supervision of their adviser Dr. Leo P. Paliuanan and capstone mentors Dr. Billy S. Javier and Ms. Iolani A. Silvestre.

The 2023 Search for Best Undergraduate Thesis is an annual undertaking spearheaded by the Office of the Vice - President for Research and Development and Extension - an annual gathering of the best teams competing from the 8 campuses of the University. It showcases the different social, experimental, and technological research outputs of the students in the University with respect to the University research and development thrusts and priorities, as well as the regional and national research agenda.
