International Academic and Research Partners visit CSU Aparri

Cagayan State University - Aparri Campus welcomes three (3) international partners for academic and research, in fulfillment of the university’s mantra on international relation and excellence, on September 4, 2024.

These international partners came from Taiwan and Japan, representing their respective universities: Ms. Hui-Kuei Alice Hsieh, the Section Chief for Foreign Language Teaching and Learning from Deh Yu University at Taiwan; Ms. Hsinju Christine Liu, Director for International Cooperation and Exchange Center from Fo Guang University at Taiwan; and Mr. Prashant Gupta, an international doctorate student from Soka University, at Japan.

Prior to the opening ceremony of the program and the round table discussion, these personnel are able to visit the Hatchery Site for Mangrove Crab Production at Buguey, after the courtesy visit to Hon. Mayor Licerio Antiporda III, the mayor of Buguey, Cagayan.

Accompanying these personnel are the university officials, to mention Dr. Jhonna Calibaquib, the University Research Director; Prof. Kristine Joyce Lara, the University Director for Domestic and International Partnerships; Mr. Bradley Invierno and Dr. Chirbet Ayunon, Faculty Members of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences CSU Carig; Mr. Lewis Reyes from the Central Information Office of CSU, Campus officials, and Facilitators.

Dr. Calubaquib expressed her words of appreciation and gratitude for the warm welcome to the participants.

“We are elated, and I know that our partners from Taiwan and Japan feel the same as well for we are welcomed warmly and had a meaningful tour around the Hatchery site of CSU at Buguey, and was able to see the production ponds of CSU Aparri.” she said in her speech.

“This initiative will eventually help us in making more sustainable research, which will later on be beneficial not only to us, but for the future generation of CSU to come.” she added.

Meanwhile, Ms. Melanie Membrot, CPA, the Administrative Officer V, who served as the officer-in-charge told the importance of having these kinds of programs mentioning, “Partnerships like this mean we are building bridges and opening opportunities, which gives us essential learnings that we might be able to apply in the near future.”

The program bears the theme “Bridging Borders: CSU’s Internalization Initiative for Academic and Research Collaboration with Taiwan and Japan”, in line with the aim of the Sustainable Development Goal 17, which is the Partnership for the Goals.
