Director Ebora Inaugurates the Mangrove Crab Hatchery-Nursery Facility
Buguey, Cagayan - The Mangrove Crab Hatchery-Nursery Facility recently inaugurated on April 18, 2024, in collaboration with DOST-PCAARRD, LGU-Buguey, and BFAR Region 2. This newly established crab hatchery aims to enhance production not only in Buguey but also benefit the entire province and the region.
OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibanez, represented by Dr. Junel B. Guzman, Vice President for Research Development and Extension, expressed optimism about a 5-10% increase in crab production in the region as a result of the facility. This accomplishment was made possible through the collaboration with partner agencies. Dr. Guzman reaffirmed CSU's commitment to supporting partner agencies continually, fostering strong relationships for mutual growth and success.
The event was attended by the DOST OIC Provincial Director Jayferson Mabborang, Dr. Evelyn C. Ante from BFAR Region 02, Dr. Noel A. Catibog, Director of TTPD, DOST-PCAARRD, and Hon. Licerio M. Antiporda III - Municipal Mayor of Buguey, expressing their wholehearted support for the new Mangrove Crab Hatchery-Nursery Facility.
Dir. Reynaldo V. Ebora, the Executive Director of DOST-PCAARRD, emphasized the significance of the facility for the production of mangrove crab, sufficing the demand of the people, and making more livelihood to people. "I firmly believe that the mangrove crab hatchery will serve as a guiding light of the region far and wide.” He said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Quirino G. Pacua, CFAS Dean, Project Leader, presented the progress before and after the project's construction prior to the Ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement Signing.
Furthermore, the program ended with the unveiling of the Project Marker, Ribbon Cutting, and Blessing of the Facility, marking a new chapter in the advancement of crab production in the province. The Mangrove Crab Hatchery-Nursery Facility stands as a testament to collaboration, innovation, and a promising future for the crab industry nationwide.
